Miss Nine
DJ Miss Nine has been a major presence on the dance scene for quite some years now. With her eclectic taste in music, ranging from energetic grooves with plenty of vocals to a deeper, progressive sound, Miss Nine turns heads and moves feet anywhere she performs.
Amsterdam
Miss Nine was born in Germany as Kristin Schrot and at the age of 16, she started her career – not as a DJ, but as a model. Shortly after, she secured a worldwide contract with Elite Model Management. After meeting her boyfriend, a DJ, she moved to Amsterdam and while living there, she started experimenting with her boyfriend's turntables. She discovered her passion for music and decided to become a DJ as well.
In 2003, only a few months after touching the decks for the first time, she became a resident DJ at the legendary Motion parties where she evolved as an artist and DJ while playing alongside masters such as John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, and James Zabiela.
Also in 2003, she made an appearance as the youngest artist at the 10th edition of Dance Valley. At the end of 2005, Miss Nine was asked by Grammy Award winning DJ duo Deep Dish to join Bullitt Bookings, the reputable agency of A-list DJs. This move allowed Miss Nine to enter the forefront of the international DJ scene for the first time.
925 Digital
In 2008, Miss Nine started her own record label: 925 Digital. Having spent some years in the dance scene, she then realized that there were many great progressive-house tracks that didn't get the release that they deserved. Miss Nine started 925 Digital in order to do something about this and bring progressive house, and the artists behind it, to prominence.
Miss Nine performs all around the world, spinning at clubs such as Pacha and Privilege in Ibiza, Avalon in Los Angeles, Warung in Brazil and the Ministry of Sound in London. She also performed her magic on the main stage of the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, joining a line-up of, among others, Tiësto and David Guetta.
Yoshitoshi Recordings
Miss Nine was the first female DJ to mix a compilation for Washington-based Yoshitoshi Recordings, the world-renowned leader in progressive and big-room house music. The highly anticipated Yoshitoshi Ibiza: Mixed by Miss Nine (YRCDLP15) was released in September 2006. Miss Nine is currently busy mixing a second album for Yoshitoshi Recordings.
Miss Nine also released an album on the world famous Armada label: Dancefloor Sessions (ARMA134) in June 2008. Furthermore, in 2010 she released a new album: Fantasia, which is only available for purchase in Asia.
Nine Sessions
Nine Sessions is Miss Nine's monthly show at radio stations in more than 35 countries, including DI.fm, Proton, Frisky and Dance Paradise. During this one-hour show, Miss Nine shares her favorite tracks of the moment with her listeners.
Campaigns
In 2010, Miss Nine has become the ambassador of the revolutionary Levi's® Curve ID line. To highlight this new line, she has mixed the compilation album Levi's® Curve ID. Besides spinning at many events, which are actively being promoted in Europe and Asia, Miss Nine also hosted Levi's® presents Miss Nine in the supperclub during the Amsterdam Dance Event 2010.
Miss Nine is also the face of Pioneer for the new CDJ-350 en DJM-350, turntables that are meant for starting DJs. As part of a Europe-wide promotional campaign, video clips in which Miss Nine is demonstrating these turntables are being televised on MTV.
She will be touring worldwide in 2011, so make sure to check www.miss-nine.com and catch the queen of the decks at a venue near you!
